Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. is a private Russian petroleum company based in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, founded in 1994. It operates the Sakhalin-2 project, one of the largest integrated oil and gas developments globally, focusing on the offshore Piltun-Astokhskoye oil field and Lunskoye gas field in the Sea of Okhotsk.
The company is involved in the production, transportation, processing, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. Oil production commenced in 1999, followed by liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in 2009. Sakhalin Energy manages the entire value chain, from offshore extraction to export, utilizing various offshore platforms and an onshore processing facility. It supplies around 4% of the global LNG market from its Prigorodnoye complex.
Sakhalin Energy exports oil and LNG worldwide, impacting the global energy market. The company reported revenues of approximately US$4.38 billion in 2020 and has received recognition for its operational excellence. With a workforce of 1,000 to 5,000 employees, Sakhalin Energy continues to play a significant role in the energy sector.
